Step Away Rehabilitation Centre Admissions Procedure

Step 1

The first step is to call the rehabilitation centre on 041 467 0090 or 076 415 9131, we are a licensed rehabilitation treatment centre located in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. 

An appointment will then be scheduled to meet you for an addiction pre-assessment. 

This assessment is to ensure that you are not suffering from drug or alcohol induced psychosis, as we do not admit psychotic patients. Full disclosure is required at all times, including your history of drug and alcohol abuse.

Step 2

The next step is to obtain pre-authorisation from your medical aid, after you contact the rehab centre we will then directly contact your medical aid.

In the case that you are a private patient, the rates and expenses of the rehabilitation treatment will be discussed during the telephonic conversation in step one.

Step 3

Once you have done the assessment and there is a bed available in the rehab centre, you may be admitted, either that day or the next day. 

The pre-authorisation will be done with the medical aid once the date of admission has been decided on.  

Admissions into the rehab programme are done between Monday and Thursday every week.  No admissions into the treatment programmes will be done on a Friday or over a weekend.

Step 4

You will be given a list of what to bring with you and what is not allowed at the treatment centre. 

Once admitted you will be issued with the rehab admission criteria and rules of the rehabilitation centre that is to be signed in agreement. 

Admission documents will be done on the day of admission, please have a copy of your ID document as well as medical aid card available.

Step 5

Once admitted you will be seen by the practice doctor for a medical within the first 12 hours of admission. 

Depending on your physical state, you will then begin working our 21-day rehabilitation program with our psychologist, our drug counsellor, our social worker and attend group sessions.
